Just tested my 4wd in the snow for the first time, unlike my last truck it didn't have traction control so i never had this problem.

I notice when I put it in 4wd and the wheels were slipping the traction control light blinked. I think it would work better with it OFF, however i thought I would ask what works better.

When the wheels slip the traction control kicks in to stop the slipping, it is generally a good thing especially in deep snow. However, if you have a rear dif lock then the traction control doesn't matter if a rear wheel is slipping. It will help keep you from digging a large hole where you can easily bottom out your truck and need to be winched out.
There can be times when you want to turn it off, such as in sand. And even then you may want it on.
There are differing opinions on some of this.
I dont know if this helped, I hope it did.

That helps alot. I reason I was concerned with leaving it on, I remember when my two wheel drive car rwd got stuck in rocks/pebbles the traction control actually stopped me from getting out, then after disengaging the traction control I was able to move forward.

I guess like you said it all depends on the situation.

Thanks for the reply

I agree, off in sand, deep snow, and mud. Let the rear locker help walk you out in 4high and save low in case you feel the truck bogging down. Leave it on with ice, couple of inches of snow, heavy rain, etc.

That would have been an available option on your truck but not included in the package.

I have the LT 4wd.... Does my model have the locker on it.

The rear locker is available as an option or as part of the Z71 package. It is a necessity off road. If you dont go off road it is not a big deal.

Unfortunately, a lot of 4WD buyers miss that option. A 4WD vehicle without the limited slip rear differential option really isn't 4 wheel drive.

So, how do you know if you have the G80?
Does the RPO code in the glovebox denote that as G80?

"G80 AXLE POSITRACTION , LIMITED SLIP"

Is that the same?

Well sheesh, if a vehicle with rear lockers is unstoppable, imagine what one with front and rear lockers could do.
