I have a couple of questions regarding upsizing my wheels. I am thinking of upsizing from factory 17's to GM 22's (CK 922).

1. I am lost as to what size tires would look/perform better; Bridgestone Dueler Alenza H/L in 285/45R22 or Yokohama Parada Spec-X 305/40R22. Anyone have any advice on tire/wheel size combo's? Also, does anyone know if upsizing the wheels/tires will void any of the factory warranty?

2. I assume that upsizing will also sacrafice ride quality, correct? If so, how much?

3. What adjustments will need to made to the computer system? I believe the upsizing could affect the ABS, speedometer, etc.

Thanks for the help!

tire sizing I would suggest 295/45/22 General UHP are about $160ea

No warranty lost

not too much ride quality lost in 22's at all

no adjustments need to be made as you are keeping to as close as possible to the original rolling radius of the OE size wheel and tire.

I went from 17's to 22's. Definitely noticeable loss in ride quality. You are cutting the sidewall height almost in half. A lot less cushion. The 17's felt like you were riding on air. The 22's are noticeably different (though not to the point that I regret it).

Most people run 305/40-22's. I went slightly larger with 305/45's.

As far as the tires, I prefer "All Season" tires as opposed to "Highway/Performance" tires on SUV's. If you are debating between the two tires above, I will recommend the Yokohama Spec X. They are "Peformance" tires but are rated for snow use as well (if that is a concern at all).

My wife's AWD '08 CTS has 22's w/ Yoko Spec X's and they've been great in the snow the past 2 years.

Considering the OP is in Texas we dont really suffer snow issues but ice on occasion and I have always run high performance tires and never had a problem. Tire sizing is personal preferance you can't really go wrong, local tire ctr will help you choose if you are unsure.
Have fun and lets see the results

Up sizing the wheel will not affect ABS at all. However depending how much bigger the over all size is the speedometer maybe off some.

When I purchased mine new in Dec '08, it had dealer installed 22" wheels, with Bridgestone Dueler Alenza H/L 285/45R22.

The warranty was not voided.

My LTZ has Autoride. I have had several rentals in LT models and they don't ride as well as my vehicle; they are much softer and wallowy. This set up is far superior to my '04 Z71 Tahoe, whose ride I used to prefer.

I put factory Escalade take-offs on my hoe and I can say that I did notice the ride quality did suffer a bit. As stated above, not nearly enought to make me regret doing so.

I belive the factory Escalade's use the 285 tire....no issues with rubbing, ABS, etc...

My Hoe was used when I bought it, so I can't speak for warranty.

Due to the greater mass of the tire/wheel combo, the braking distance will be a little longer.
