I got tired of that slick console and wanted some padding...2" of padding to be exact...lol

So, after having an exhaustive search for alligator print vinyl, I settled on some ostrich...

The pain in the butt was getting the upper and lower console lid seperated.. it is epoxied together, but it came apart with some persuasion...

Well, I may take it apart and add some piping around the edge, but here it is...

I will be taking the inserts in the doors and doing the same...

I may dye it a different color also, but the "peanut butter" just stands out right now... may keep it...

What do you guys think

Cool. Did you stop by Capital City Upholstery on 290/S.Congress? They have alligator there. Where'd you find the Ostrich?

I stopped going south at 183 lol... I hardly ever make it down to South Austin anymore. I got the Ostrich at of all places JoAnns Fabric at the Arbor Walk... They have a good selection of auto vinyl and even headliner...

I am glad I went with it, now I just have to pick a color to dye it...

and do the rest of the trim in the truck...

Since I have kids putting in my seats I want may be last but it will be the crowning touch on the interior...

That's cool; I didn't know JoAnn's carried auto upholstery. I always go to Cap City.
Anyway, keep the pics coming as you go along. I'd like to see how this turns out.

I am removing the factory carpet at the bottom of the door to and doing an insert there too...

but here is the door panel so far...and it is totally removable too...nothing permanent...

BJ

(reminder, more glue tomorrow)

Decided to go in a different direction...

Well, the ostrich wasn't growing on me.... so I decided to go with a graphite gray dye...

I dyed the speaker grills, door handles, control pods, and the insert in the door.

I used Pit Bull Adhesion promoter after prepping the doors with alcohol,

Then, masked everything off and went to town.

I had to add the little billet tribal flames by the lock indicators just for fun...

I will be redoing the center console in the same gray, and the armrest in graphite vinyl...

I like the dove gray and the darker gray, I think it works... Now to do the rear doors, dash bottom, console, and the a pillar covers....

Looking to do the headliner "BUJU" style in graphite suede... BUJU is my hero...lol

Then the seats will get switched out for some Z71 Tahoe buckets front and back dyed to match... Only money, right??

What you see here cost a grand total of 7 bucks...:sla:

I like it. Still looks kinda factory, with your own custom touch. I might have to steal your idea. My speaker grilles are looking a little crappy.

I'm impressed. Do you have experience with upholstery. I have been wanting to do that with my 2000 Yukon. Its the new body style with the center console that is like a salad bowl. I hate that indent. I am thinking of going to a different console style, just not sure what I can get to match up

I have been in the auto upgrade industry for about 20 years, I have done leather kits and custom interior parts but mainly focused on performance and audio/video/security... It is a hobby now more than anything.
I cant wait to put in my seat replacements from an '04 leather rig, I have to take them apart and dye them, then I can put them in, but while all the seats are out I will go ahead and do the suede graphite gray headliner...
It is like therapy to do that kinda stuff for me...plus I have something unique when done... I am an addict when it comes to that kind of stuff...lol

oh, the center console in mine is just temporary... waiting to build/glass a new one when I get all my a/v equipment together so I get the measurements correct... I am thinking about a front to rear center console with four ten inch woofers down the center in a nice vinyl/plex/fiberglass enclosure... Focal has one similar on their website..

looks better in the gray/charcoal. That peanut butter wasn't doing it for me..

That reminds me, I still need to get my katzkin kit installed.
