Upgrade to 4l80e

Just wondering if this is possible and what's needed.
My 99 tahoe has the 4l60E and I've found a 4l80E out of a 92 pickup for $300.
Would this be possible given the year difference or does that matter with these trannys?
Also if this looks like a good deal, what would I need to complete the swap? (like tune, or new parts)

well definitely wouldn't be me tackling anything to do with making the truck move so depends on my mechanic lol. If its not at all possible then I'll just chuck the idea.

Well anything is possible I guess. Depends on how much you want to mess with it to make it work....

more than likely it could work just make sure you use the new trannys flex plate and torque converter. also double check to see if all the sensors and wiring are identical. if not then you might have an issue

Wiring would almost certianly be different between those 7 years. Control mechanisms would differ I would suspect also, if you just need a replacement, go with the original or if you want one beefed up, you can purchase a trans with upgrades to handle different things...

4L80e swap

Just picked up a used 4L80e but it is 2wd. I have a 99 Tahoe classic body style 5.7 vortec with the 4L60e. Not sure what t-case. Couldn't pass as it was a deal. Has anyone had experience with these swaps? I know the output shafts are likely different and know the rearr housing will need changing to a 4wd application. Just not sure of any other problems like tuning and drive shafts and stuff. It is certainly an upgrade but what's in going to cost me guys? Thanks
