I have a 5.3L 4x4, later on in the Tahoe's life i want to go 6.0L. But what parts do i need to do a Do-it-yourself Turbo Kit. I know i need a Turbo, but how big and what wheel same for injectors what size? I also need a intercooler, BOV(i think i have one) and a Wastegate(think i also have one). I wanna do a rear mount turbo like STS offers. Let me know what do i need, also where does the MAF go and do i have to remove my O2 sensors?

Unless you have a great deal of experience with forced induction applications, I don't think that this is really a "do-it-yourself" kind of operation. There are a TON of variables that have to be considered, any one of which could really mess up your engine. Not trying to be pessimistic, just don't wanna see you mess up your ride!

I'm sure there are other people who are much more experienced than I am who will chime with some advice for you.

since the 5.3 and 6.0 have the same stroke, it would be cheaper to just bore the 5.3 out insted of swapping. I know this was not the answer you were looking for but i just thought i would point this out.

I didn't know that...that would make a hell of a cool side project! Build up an all-motor beast...

You can daily drive these trucks with some form of boost with incredible ease. The modern small block chevy can withstand a significant amount of punishment and it takes quite a bit of boost and poor tuning to grenade these engines. Register at www.performancetrucks.net and research the different forms of forced induction before deciding on what fits your needs the best. I'm going with an intercooled ati procharger since I can get a ridiculous deal on them, otherwise the basic turbo kit (http://www.trickperformanceproducts.com/turbo_frontpage_intro.htm) is probably your best choice for cost and reliability. Plenty of people like the roots style blowers in the magnacharger kits but I prefer the more efficient whipples or kenne bells with the proper tuning. There are quite a few discussions on PT.net regarding this very subject, only you will be able to decide which route is best for your truck. I'd keep a few thousand at your disposal for a transmission as well, seems like nobody can leave their truck at low boost and an FLT 4L60 is a great investment regardless.
