I have a 2000 Yukon with a 5.3 liter engine and i called the dealer to get new plugs and wire and wow the plugs are 16.00 each and the wires are 114.00 but the after market parts are half as much, are the oem parts that much better, any thoughts

thanks

How many miles on your Yukon? OEM spark plugs are Iridium and should last around 100k miles, that's why they're expensive. Wires are not all created equal, some aftermarket are pure junk.

Personaly i go with OEM Iridium plugs and MSD wires.

I bought ACDelco plugs (iridiums) and wires from Advance Auto. The plugs were ~$7 each and the wires were $93. They are even cheaper on rockauto.com.

I have seen Delco plugs on ebay NIB for $55/8, check for 41-985 (delco#) or 12571164 (GM#). I've seen them on ebay going less too.
