I have a 1999 4wd tahoe with 130k miles on it and while I was driving normal without any warning it came out of gear and I started to coast. After putting it in all the gears it will not go in any of them forward or reverse. I can use the column to shift but it stays in "nuteral" unless it is all the way up in park which it will stay in. I have tried putting it in 4x4 to use the front wheels to drive but it still does not go after unpluging the battery and plugging it back in a few minutes later as my last resort it still does not move and tips or advice would be greatly appreciated thank you

Could be shift linkages or possibly your shift solenoids, but transmissions are beyond me

Might have a look see at the linkage below on the drivers side of the transmission. If you can, make shure it hasn't popped off.

Was there any noise that occurred when it coasted? Any jerk of feeling?
