Transfer Case? Tranny?

Hi guys need some help i have a 99Tahoe LT. Heres my problem, i have to
keep the parking brake on or the truck will roll. Now, when i start the truck
and place it in gear....horrible noise from the transfer case area and it wont drive. Very loud grinding noise. Any ideas on what the problem is. Your help
is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you gots a busted transfer case..... Either that or if it is electronic you could have a bad encoder motor and it is stuck almost in neutral.......
