Recently purchased 2001 Tahoe 5.3 with unknown history (...preparing myself for the flaming now). In the process of changing all the fluids. The general consensus is that doing a flush either by a professional or DIY is a bad idea for a high mileage vehicle (Mine @ 198k). The only issue with the tranny that I've noticed is trouble going into 2nd when cold...you can feel slight trouble when hot, but not that bad.
My question is, if I do the regular fluid/filter change by dropping pan and I put in say RP, TranSynd or one of the other TES-295 fluids, do you think I will see any noticeable improvement? The stuff isn't cheap by any means. Should I stick with a cheap fluid vs that one or just leave it the hell alone for now and not worry with the fill and filter change? Current fluid is brownish red, doesn't smell burnt, levels are fine.
