so im about to PCS from camp pendleton to yuma and my tahoe just died (head gaskets). so now instead of pulling my jetta with the penske truck (22' diesel) im going to need to pull the tahoe. now the dolly has a weight rating of 4300 lbs. now does anyone know if this is the total pulling weight of the dolly or the weight the axle can support? if its the latter then i should just be able to pull up since the dolly will only be supporting the front half.
now for the car carrier ive seen people using them to haul their 83' 60 series land cruisers which weigh about the same as the tahoe. however the car carrier is only rated for 4050 lbs.
anyone with any experience in this situation? thanks.

call U Haul and they can give you that information. they have a database that will tell you the allowable weight and stuff but the rule of thumb is that the vehicle pulling needs to be heavier than the vehicle and trailer being pulled combined.

when you call them you will not need to give them any commitment or anything just tell them you have a truck that needs to be hooked up to a tow dolly and you will be pulling with the 20' truck since they dont have a 22' they have 20' to 24' then a 26'...

personally i think you should be ok, but dont take my word for it

Right on, I was planning on using their 22'. But i found a company that will transport my Tahoe for the same price as a car hauler from Penske.
