I thought I had heard of others saying their Tahoe, similar to mine, is rated at 7500 lbs towing? I have an 07 4wd w/ 5.3, 3.73, tow pack and locking rear. I thought mine was rated right at about 7k..?

According to 2007 brochure (check your owner's manual to verify):
4X4 w/ 3.73 ==> 7200
4X4 w/ 4.10 ==> 8200
4X4 w/ 3.73 ==> 7200
4X4 w/ 4.10 ==> 8200
Tow Ratings
I've got an 07 Yukon SLT with similar equipment (5.3L, 3.73 ratio with locking rear end, etc.). I looked over the GMC brochure and the owners manual and it seemed like there was conflicting info. So, I sent an email to GMC and, after a long, long wait they verified the tow rating at 7,200# for a properly equipped vehicle. I also found out that the Yukon did not come with factory transmission oil cooler so I had the local dealership install the equipment. The text below is the response from GMC regarding the ratings info:
I have done some research on your vehicle. I understand your interest in this information and I appreciate the precaution you are taking in verifying this fact.
The maximum trailer weight capacity for your vehicle is 7,200 lbs.
Maximum gross trailer weight is calculated assuming vehicle has all required trailering equipment. The weight of additional optional equipment, passengers and cargo in the tow vehicle must be subtracted from the maximum trailer weight.
There are also some important points to consider if you decide to pull a trailer indicated in your owner’s manual from page 406-412.
If you should need to contact us in the future, simply reply to this message or call our GMC Customer Assistance Center at 1-866-790-5600 Customer Relationship Specialists are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time.
