Tow/haul mode

Okay, 2000 Tahoe, 5.3, purchased one year ago. When I push the Tow/haul button the indicator light on the dash doesn't light up. I didn't tow anything with it last summer so I never used it so to be honest I'm not sure if it has ever come on as long as I've had the truck. I've pushed the button in while driving and see no change whatsoever. I assume it's not functioning? Any ideas?

so when your driving and you push the button, the RPM's dont jump up about 1000 more? if not, sounds like the whole things isnt working... couldnt tell ya why though

Thanks, that's kinda what I thought it should do, the one on my Dodge basically just makes it so it won't go into OD so like you said, the RPM's jump, but since this one isn't working I didn't know if it did anything different. Hopefully it's something simple like a switch or relay.
