Tow/Haul Button not working

Just bought a 01 Z71, when I press the tow/haul button, the little light does not come on on the dash? Anyone have any ideas why? Also, when I press my onstar button, nothing happens either. Thanks in advance.

Broken wire in steering column, I believe it's orange, gets pinched and eventually breaks. pretty easy to fix, sorry no pics, let me do some research.....

EDIT: here it is from FullsizeChevy.com second post shows a picture of it, the post says the light comes on but no tow/haul, the wire is what your looking for that is more than likely broken.

You may not have the digital onstar module, I just recently bought an 05 yukon and I had to have mine serviced. In 05 or sometime around then they switched over to all digital and you have to upgrade the module. Not a warranty item either. Costs about 200 or so bucks for the digital upgrade if you dont have it. May not be your problem, just a suggestion.
