Every time I've had a smog check in California they have stuffed the "sniffer" up the exhaust pipe. If there is no exhaust pipe I am not sure what they will do. WIll they crawl under the vehicle to insert it or will they just say that it has been moded and fail it. Might pay to stop by a smog inspection station and ask.

Just put on a catback Magnaflow on my 07 yesterday. The growl is fantastic and there is noticeable feel from my "butt dyno", particularly in the 2000-3000 rpm range. You can hear when it floats between V4/V8 mode.

I just have to keep my foot out of it now otherwise my fuel bill is going to go way up. :yesnod:

A worthy purchase and my wife hasn't noticed the increased sound (Pricele$$!)

Volant intake with new PowerCore is coming next week!

Yea, I couldn't stay off the gas the first 2 weeks when I got mine, I had to get on it to hear that rumble!! But, know I just smile when I hear it, and plus I've gotten better gas mileage with it on, than when I had the stock. You'll love it, just stay off the gas if you want better gas mileage! :Chevy:

How loud is it inside when it switches from V4 to V8? I am looking into cat back systems also and the interior noise must be kept down.

Thanks

When you are at highway cruising speed, it is fine and pretty quiet. There is just a slight tone change between V4/V8. However getting up to highway speed is a different story. I put a Volant CAI in and you can barely hear the induction compared to the rumble from the Magnaflow.

It's is quite loud if you stomp on it. It sounds good, but speaking to the passenger during this is challenging. Gentle acceleration is OK, but who drives like that when you have these upgrades :cool2: Just kidding.

If you are looking for something maybe not so loud, look at the GM Performance "Touring" exhaust package. I think Corsa or Borla may also be quieter than my Magnaflow. I wish I had the chance to listen to all of these in person before I picked one. YouTube vids don't do much for comparing rumbles and drones.

My friend has Magnaflow on his 07-08 Denali, and I don't even notice the switch, in fact I don't even notice the exhaust on the truck while we cruise on the freeway until a steep hill when it gets a little deeper. I would highly recommend the Magnaflow because it is by far the quietest out of all the companies! :Chevy:
