Hi everyone, I'm new around these parts and hoping you can help. I have a 2005 Z71 and have an issue that has happened twice in the past 2 weeks. As I'm leaving work, the check engine light comes on as well as traction control and brake lights. I get the messages stability system disabled and engine power reduced in the information center. The gas pedal stops responding as well.
I called OnStar the first time it happened and the geniuses there cleared the codes prior to getting it towed to the dealer so they were unable to find anything. Well, the same thing happened last night. I shut the truck off and restarted it, the MIL was still on but I was able to get home.
I hooked up my scanner and pulled the following codes:

P1516: Commanded vs actual TP performance (TAC module)

P2108 Throttle Actuator Control Module Performance

U0107 Lost Communications with throttle actuator control module

Can anyone suggest what may be the issue before I take it to the dealer? Anything that can be DIY?
Thanks!

Just found in another thread here that we have a drive-by-wire throttle on these newer Tahoes. Sounds like that's where the problem is at based on the codes - I recall a throttle-related module completely failing on our 03 Tahoe and was replaced under warranty.

Yep sounds like we're having the same issue but mine accelerates on top of all that. I've decided to replace every electrical component to do with the throttle.

Wow... how odd.. The same thing happened with my Tahoe last week (it's a 2006 with 22,000 miles). The only code stored on mine was a 0107. I am quite sure mine was a P though and not a U. Funny though the only symptom that is different is mine was sputtering and would barely idle. It has not happened again yet but I expect it will since nothings been done to resolve the issue.

on edit:

The problem you report is a reported problem on the 2006 and 2007 vehicles. It doesn't list M/Y 2005 vehicles but it certainly sounds like what your seeing.

Well after 2 dealers, I get the truck back and they it was a bad ground. It kinda reminds of going to the doctor and them telling you it's a virus; they know something is wrong but don't know what. Anyway...
So get home with the truck, decide to go out later and use the remote start to warm her up a bit before I go. Get in the truck and all the lights are back on! StabiliBS disabled, engine power reduced, ABS, CEL..etc. WTF?!
Then the little gears in my head start turning and think that none of this stated until I installed the HID's and it only happens when I use the remote start.
I'm not 100% sure but the headlights flash every 2 seconds or so when remote started. Could this be causing some type of issue? Weak battery?
It's a compustar alarm/remote start, is there a way to disable the headlights from flashing?
Thanks.

I.e. We come up with a fix? We have replaced everything except the wiring harness. I'm scared to drive this truck with my 2 and 4 year olds daughters. Chevy can't figure it out. My dad, who is a very experienced mechanic is baffled, along with several other people who have tried their hand at it.
