I did seafoam/deep creep job today, and there is a bunch of crap that I can't get out of my throttle body. I'd like to remove it completely to do a thorough cleaning, but there are two things that I need clarified:

1. I can get one of the throttle cables off, but how the hell do you release the cable that is connected to the little black plastic screw-type deal on the far left of the TB?

2. There are what appear to be coolant hoses running into/out of the throttle body. Obviously these need to be disconnected to get the TB off completely, so if they are coolant lines, how much coolant should I expect to dump out? I am going to have to plug/clamp any of the lines to prevent a constant dump once I get the TB off?

Thanks guys. I'm still learning here - just figuring out what goes where. :D

Are you having idling problems, other than the junk that you see built up, why do you want to take the TB off? Me personally, if it was to just clean it out I wouldn't take it off, I would just every once in a while spray the crap out of that TB with the deep creep and let it clean itself out, otherwise you have to deal with resealing issues and risk damaging electronics or anything else around the TB. Just my .02!!

Eh, no problems, my truck runs like a top actually...but like I said above, I'm anal. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, as I spent just shy of 7 years in the air force as a machinist/welder...once someone gives me a guide on how to do something, I can probably do it. I guess that based on my military experience working on F-16s where everything was held to extremely close tolerences, I feel the same about my truck.

Unecessary I suppose, but I just don't like the idea of doing a 90% job on something...especially when it comes to cleaning gunk off of a part.

I wish I could apply that in my daily life - my wife always bitches about me leaving clothes on the floor and dirty plates in the sink, lol.

No problem, just a heads up too, it is going to require you to partially drain the cooling system and then you may end up needeing a new gasket also, so check with autozone to see if they have one before you start...I got mine for $5

Awesome, thanks for the heads up man. I'll get an extra catch can for the coolant while I'm there, too.

I might have to take some pics during the process and write a tutorial for this, since nobody seems to have done one yet. I'm all about creating stickies. :D
