The wife wants her Tahoe lifted.

I have been reading here on the board. Not a whole lot of lifts seem to be installed (members of this board vehicles). Any thoughts on a lift kit?

Is she trying to get over some high curbs? Or do you live in a flood prone area?

Why lift something that is so high off the ground already? It is just harder to get in and out of it.

May it looks good to some people, I don't know.

Mine hates dealing with my lifted DMAX with our 2 young boys. I guess that's okay b/c it keeps here from driving it

To me the 5.3 would be too underpowered with a lift kit, I would have done it on a 6.0 Suburban if the wife would have let me.

Nah man, the 5.3 is plenty. I had a 99 Silverado with the 5.3 that I lifted 9 inches and 37" tires. It still gave me all the power I needed on the road and off.

I had an '07 Tahoe w/ the 5.3 before I got my Denali, and I'm sorry it was underpowered for me in stock trim (even w/ exhaust, CAI, & chip). 0-60 in 8 seconds isn't my idea of power. My lifted DMAX will run 13's in the quarter and to 60 in 6 flat at WELL over 7K pounds. I guess I am just spoiled by the vehicles in my sig.

There are actually 4 or 5 lifted tahoes in this forum. I'm running a rancho 4 inch lift with 35's. There's a couple more guys/gals with a procomp 6 inch. either way that tahoe is going to look pretty bad ass. nevermind the haters.

For looks? For off roading?

She should drive a lifted ride first, not everybody will like it, especially with larger wheels.

ive got a 6" procomp at 8" on 35s and its a nice kit. powerwise it isnt as bad as i thought it would be...i luckly have the 4:10 gears and i haded intake exhaust and a programmer. i feel wat you mean powerwise tho...my dmax hauls and makes my hoe look like a slug.

This may not be what your meaning but a 2 1/2 Truxxx leveling kit for the front will provide enought room to run 33" tires.

She has the LTZ with the 20 inch wheels. I am thinking some 20" BFGs.

Curious timing. I was asked for pics once before and was sitting in the same office as I am now.....out of town, no personal computer, and no camera. Anyway, it's a Z71 with 18" wheels and all you can tell is that something is different. It does not stand out like a full 4" lift but certainly is enough to be noticably different. The reason was to fit the 33" tires with no scraping.

gmcul8r, when you lift a vehicle, you shouldn't really be aiming at a fast drag vehicle. all i meant to say is that it has enough power, it isn't meant to race at the local dragstrip.

I never implied that. I stated that I think the 5.3 is slightly underpowered in stock trim, so I could only imagine a lifted one. I live in a hilly area and the 5.3 with a 4 speed had a tough time going up inclines at stock height (w/ performance mods). Hills are where you REALLY notice the addition of larger wheels & tires. I don't drag race my vehicles, but I like to get to the speed limit quickly, and prefer not to lug up hills.

I also live in a mountain region. It does help if you get a little lower gears, but I never had any trouble at all with mine when I went off road. It always made it out of the mud.

I would agree that gears would have to be a must, at least 4.10's. I'm sure your truck did great off road, but I don't think the wife who wants her Tahoe lifted would see much of that.

As I said in my first post, I wish my wife wanted a lifted Tahoe! A Z71 on 35's would be sick!

We did the TRUXX kit. 2.5" in front and 1.5" in rear and pput 33's on. It's better than stock for clearance, but not as mean as a Rancho kit.

I posted a link LT3 with truxx kit.

IF the spoiler didn;t have to be mounted on the front, it would have great clearance for what the kit is.
