Tahoe Tail Lens - Black Trim - Compatibility

I have a 2000 Tahoe LT and want to change the rear Tail Light Lens with the 2004 Lens that have the Black Trim. Every where I look to order them, they say they will fit the 2004 and up only. I looked at the 2000 lens and see no difference between the 2000-2003 and the 2004's.
Has anyone replaced there 2000 lens with the 2004's with black trim?
