It's a 1996, that needs a transmission, the mechanic has been very nice to allow it there, but with financies being less then before, have not been able to pay to get the trans fixed, no work has been done on it. At this point I am seeking wisdom on if I should scrap it or not and what the effects would be for the Tahoe's performance with the engine from it sitting for 2yrs.

If that engine was in good running condition when it was parked, just change all the fluids and you're good to go. Main thing that deteriorates when a vehicle is parked is the fuel, but if it still starts and runs, you don't need to do anything.

If you're really short on money, see if the shop owner wants to buy it. No sense it being your problem if you don't want to/can't afford to fix it.

Where are you located? I may be interested if you decide to part it out or sell it.
