Anyone know if a 14 bolt, 8 lug rear axle will fit in a 97 Chevy Tahoe which currently has a blown up 10 bolt, 6 lug rear now. The 14 bolt is coming out of a 1999 2500. I need to swap the blown one out and was thinking of going BIGGER!!

Pretty much anyting can be made to fit. If the question is, is it a effortless bolt in, no.
My first question would be what am I going to gain over a 10 bolt My first concern would be gear ratio, second pinion yoke size, third wheel clearnance in fender wells, fourth spring purchase, fifith ebrake cables and I guess finally why would I want two different wheels on what looks to be a nice looking ride.
If what is driving you to the swap is availablity, I would suggest you look at a swap for a 10".

I hear yah. That's why I was asking. If the e-brake cable and pinion yolk and axle width won't match then It's not worth the trouble. I know the 10 bolt is the way to go. I obviously want quick easy and cheap.
Thanks

Hi Tim I did this in a 1979 full size blazer. It was a bolt in. The U joint had to be changed to a Percession # 348. Measure you spring pearches to see if they are the same. If you can buy the whole doner truck, then you will be able to get the front end componants to match.
Very doable swap and worth the money if the doner truck has lower gears.
