I'm a former 2008 Z71 owner / new LTZ owner with a story about the 16 days in between these two trucks.

Last month I was at a Lexus dealer getting a new RX for my dear mother. As I walked across the showroom I fell in love with a GX 460. The lights...the colors...the quality of the materials. I joked with the salesman that I'd be back to buy it next week. After we put the deal together for mom I shot him a very high number that I'd want for my Z71 and a couple days later he called me back saying he can do the deal. Stunned, I test drove and then picked up my new $60,000 GX 460. Let me tell you, it's an awesome machine. So precise, smooth, fluid and loaded with features/electronics that put GM to shame.

But within a short period of time I realized I didn't like it. It wasn't me. It didn't feel right. I kept waiting to feel better about it but it never happened. Truth was, I missed my Tahoe!

So after two weeks I phoned my Chevy dealer buddy telling him that I had cheated on him and would he take me back? The depreciation was not pretty (don't ask - you'd have me committed) but I used my patented "life is short" rationalization tool and picked up an unsold 2011 that had strong incentives and a big rebate. By comparison, the Tahoe is low tech and mid 2000s design. But I could not be happier right now. So, for any of you out there thinking about trading, learn from my expensive mistake! Think long and hard beforehand.
