Hello, New to the forum, Haven't thought of a cool nickname yet so I'm using my real one for now.

After 3-4 years of window shopping, I just bought a very cherry, super clean 2 door, 95' Tahoe LT with only 100,000 miles on it. Can't believe the ride, its as smooth as my wifes 03 Yukon. The guy that had it before me was the second owner and had just replaced the leather on all the seats 2 years ago. He claims it has never been off road and from the looks of it, he's probably not lying. It came with a set of nearly new Uniroyal Larados.

I have a few mods planned, the usual, lift, wheels, tires but what I am looking for right now is a swing out spare tire carrier for the back. Does anyone know if GM ever offered this or are they available as aftermarket? My Tahoe has the barn doors, if that makes a difference. I had a swing out carrier on an 86 model full size Bronco several years ago and really liked the convience and the extra room inside without the tire in there.

These trucks are great aren't they?

I spent much time looking for a swing out tire carrier and there just wasn't alot of good options available.

See here for what I have http://www.kenmtn.com/

I purchased the multi carrier with jack and jerry can carrier for my off-road endeavors but they have different options.

Enjoy your new umm...toy.

Thanks for the link loulblades,

They are some great trucks, I just couldn't resist getting another one of these type vehicles after selling the Bronco several years ago. I've been driving a 95' 3/4 ton longbed extended cab GMC for the last 12 years so its really great to get back into one these fun to drive trucks. Just wish gas wasn't so high.

How do you like your Rancho lift? My youngest son just put a 4" Rancho lift on his 02' Z71. It worked out great on the newer model truck. Did you notice a decrease in gas mileage when you installed the lift?

Ill probably be going with a 4" on the tahoe. I want to look/ask around before I buy so I can know I am getting what I want. Would be good to hear some satisfactory stories from owners of similar trucks.

I am real happy with the Rancho lift. Those that put it on and those that aligned it were impressed with the heavy duty make up of it. There is another section here where lifts are discussed (if you haven't been there already).

As far as gas mileage goes, I can't really say because I had the lift installed the same time the engine was replaced.

I am taking the Tahoe back tomorrow to replace the 350 with a 383.

BTW: I was driving an '85 Bronco before my current ride.

I'm pretty familiar with the 350 but not too much experience with the 383. Is there any other advantage to them besides more horsepower? My uncle use to build drag cars (mostly chevelle's), if I remember right it was mostly 327 & 350's back then in the early 70's. Let me know how you like the new motor.

The 86 Bronco was a good truck but it developed an intermitent electrical problem that we never could track down. Must have changed everything electrical on it except the wiring harness. I sold it when I bought the GMC pickup and have never looked back at Ford gas engines again.

I am definitly adding horsepower with the 383 but I was really looking for more low end torque. With the 383 I will have both.

1999 GMC Yukon spare tire carrier

I know the last post to this particular question was in 2008. But...... I am hoping somebody out there can give me some ideas. Just installed new 6" Rough Country lift and got new wheels and tires. Upgraded to 35" All terrains and looking for either a stock bumper mounted option or a receiver hitch that can swing away leaving access to the hatch door when needed. Not much available that google picks up in an easy search anyway. Shoot me an email or PM if you have some direction.
