So i pulled the throttle body off this afternoon to clean it, getting my first look at the entirety of the stock intake tube.... how f*ckin stupid is this thing? Did chevy build these things to drive in antarctica? I dont understand why the felt the need to add all this extra surface area to heat up the air!!

I wasnt going to get a CAI for my truck because i dont race her around and i figure the K&N drop in i already have would be more than enough... not anymore, this stock intake design is a total peice of crap... i guess this is a waste of a thread, just wanted to voice my opinion about something i thought was stupid as hell

Stop bitching and buy an aem, then do the coolant bypass.

yea about that coolant bypass... i got the TB off & cleaned and wa going to go to the store to get a connector and a couple of hose clamps and than decided it wasnt even neccesary. i see your point about it making the TB cleaning process easier, one less thing, but it probably only took me 30-45 minutes to get that whole process completed so i figured f*ck it.

i guess i am gonna have to get an AEM BF than huh... I cant believe how much extra surface space there is in that factory setup just collecting heat, rediculous. I just dont want to drop 3 bills on it, guess its the price you pay

Dude, just pony up and do it. I added one last week and wow the difference. It sounds so much better. It like the Hoe can breathe now. Seems like it took a bit for the computer to adjust cause now it seems like it picks up speed quicker. I'm on the waiting list for my BB Tune then I'll be done with mods for awhile.

What year you talking here?

"felt" where? I assume its to control harmonics and is a engineered piece.

Psychological gains is what keeps selling these aftermarket products...

Personally I like documented before and after independent dyno test, it is what thrills me, but it has to be done the right way, before after then drive it for 4-5k miles to ensure the computer has adapted then test again, another thing guys that kept gas mileage records since the day they bought their auto so they can average mpg over 20-100k miles then make a mod then average their mods mpg over thousands of miles to see what really happens.

All is good the billion dollar after market needs fuel too.

They aren't $300 and you don't need a connector to do the coolant bypass. PM me sucka, I'll get you one cheap so you can enjoy the dopest intake they make for these trucks.

You'd think they were 3 grand. We're only talkin about a couple hundred bucks. Who's got time for a few hundred years of dyno.

Yea, I here ya tybardy. I was just trying to make a point to hoser. Its just funny that everybody has a hard time spending some cash on their trucks but they spend $400 to $600 a month in gas in their yukons and tahoes.

LOL... right on... that just makes it cheaper for everyone!

Ty - I say just do it... the AEM Brute Force is pretty sweet and can be had at a decent price (if boost hooks ya up) Unfortunately, I've got some financial issues going on right now, otherwise I'd have one on my 'hoe.

Ouch - that is a quandry... intake will be cheaper (unless you can bend / weld your own exhaust)... I found the Magnaflow to be fairly beneficial in the MPG and HP department. Not to mention, it sounds just plain mean with the windows down.. getting on the freeway with walls on the sides...

If you're going to go exhuast first, I've got a guy that did a GREAT job... he's off Ellsworth / Main... in a little hole-in-the-wall, but he did a good job and will get you what you want. There's not too many exhaust places in the east valley... that actually do custom exhaust. He did mine for $305 out the door. If you get the shorter 18" (louder)... it would be like $275
