I would go with a magnaflow muffler or flowmaster and a turn down behind the rear tire so you dont see anything. That sounds awesome to me and looks great.

But if you want tips i wouldnt do straights, that will sound loud and get old after a while, id still do a muffler with tips.

You'll get a lot of popping from the exhaust when the engine decelerates, and the interior resonance will drive you crazy without a muffler.

i like the popping and loudness of straight pipes. most people don't tho.

2" pipe is piercing and obnoxious if u really wanna disturb the peace.

if u want a deeper muscle car sound go with 2.5"

3" is kind of a tight squeeze out back. would fit easily if u did a turn down before the rear end tho.

i had turn down single pipe on my '99 s10 and loved the deep sound and clean looks. i had 3" custom pipe from manifolds back, no cat, 40 series flowmaster, and a permanent idiot light. i never saw the need for a check engine light cuz i know how to do my own maintenence. it didn't bother the guy who bought it for $10,000 either...

i would definitely go duals on a v8 if u can afford it.

A straight pipe will actually lose power in most cases on these trucks. If you want your low end and don't feel like revving the hell out of your motor stay with a nice clean 3" catback with a good muffler. I wouldn't mind getting an electric cutout once I get a cam but I wouldn't wanna take a trip to minnesota with a droning straight pipe.

i only go straight pipe on VERY HIGH horsepower ratings!!! otherwise, i always have some form of muffler. on a mostly stock to mildly hopped up tahoe/yukon/denali i would run a single 3" or if you desire it, dual 2.5" or 3" would be fine. i run single 3" and won't change until i go with a supercharger. then i'll run dual 3" w/ race mufflers.

I know asked this already in previous thread, but I went to the Dynatech website and saw their long tube header with y-pipe with no cats. Is the theory that I would loose low end torque? I would still maintain a muffler.

Thanks

Dynatech

I have the Dynatech SuperMaxx with cats and love my system. It added quite a few HP.

The dynatechs are designed to keep your low-end torque and they produce very good power. You will need a good tuner to re-map your pcm after any longtube install or you won't take full advantage of the few found power. I will buy some dynatechs if my rep gives me a deal or if I decide not to turbo my truck, they are possibly the best bolt-on header/y-pipe combo for these lsx truck motors.

Straight pipes

I went to a muffler shop and they told me that i cant straight pipe my 2000 XL yukon. When i went under it it looks like i can put a pipe on the back of my gas tank and in front of my spare. How did your guys do yours?
