Hi all -

I'm trying to remove my stock flares of my 98 'hoe - the guy I bought it from had painted them to match the body and now that paint is flakin off - go figure.

I've got all the screws out - but the flare won't budge. Is there tape between the flare and body usually? Or are there more bolts/screws that I have to get at first?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

I think there is a tape piece, if I remember corectly. see if you can "floss" it off with a piece of guitar string or something. that might tell you if youve missed some fasteners.

YA bro, I took some flared plastic off just last week. It was a pain in the arse, just be careful - sometimes the pieces come off easy with SLOW, steady pressure in the right direction. I started with tieing together two keychain rings with heavy fishing line...you can work it under the pieces and get a decent grip on the key rings to pull, helps to have someone else pull on the pieces while you work the string.

To get the goop off, someone reccomended clear coat safe bug/tar remover. Leave it on for a few hours and the stuff comes right off with a hair dryer and finger nails..just do it wet so you don't risk scratching the paint.
