About every 20 or 30 starts my truck makes this really loud crank noise (like older cars when you turned the key while it was running) Someone suggested replacing the starter, and that's what I think I will do. What i need to know is, where exactly is the starter on a 5.3L? I need to see if I even want to attempt it. To save several hundred bucks, I think I might.

Photos would be mucho nice if anyone has the time.

thanks in advance

The starter os under the truck. It's at the rear of the engine ahead of the transmission. Also you problem can be a worn or broken, as in missing teeth, flywheel.

Your best bet, drop the starter and at the same time check the flywheel. You can check the flywheel by turning the engine over by hand using a screwdriver in between the teeth of the flywheel.

First I get error codes 'cuz my truck needed to be burped..

Now I read that these trucks need flossing, too?!?:skep:

If I have to grab something and tell it to cough I am getting a moped.
