I have an '01 LT with a blown front speaker (it buzzes with any bass at all). I have non-Bose, with Onstar, stock radio/cd. My question is if I buy aftermarket speakers, will they work OK with the stock radio? I did a search, but didn't see anything directly on point. Looks like I need 6 1/2" speakers. Are there any depth restrictions? Am I better off with just another stock speaker?

Go with an aftermarket set since you have to replace them anyway. The stock radio is completely capable, as long as you stick with 4-2 ohm speakers. You'll get a slightly wider frequency response and better overall sound with a set of good aftermarket speakers. Stock size is 6 1/2" in all four doors.

I'm running infinity references in the front doors of my denali (stock bose) and they sound pretty good for an oem system. I chose the infinitys because they run 2.65ohm nominal impedance making them louder than your standard 4ohm.

I bought a pair of Pioneer 4 ohm coaxials at WalMart. They went in ok and stopped the buzzing. Stock size is actually 6 3/4, but it appears most of the 6 1/2 are equipped to install both ways. Sounds better than it did before. Thanks for the help.

Maybe I should start a new post, but has anybody added bass blockers to the front and rear door speakers with the stock radio? Maybe the stock speakers would last longer if they didn't have to do bass?

You'll need a set of crossovers for your speakers. Crossovers block certain frequencies from ever getting to the speaker, so you could set yours up so they would never let any bass go through your speakers. You could probably talk to any audio shop about it, but I don't know much about them. I've got the Bose in mine and they have built-in crossovers somewhere because my speakers never try to put out bass.
