Spare tire question

I haven’t had to use the spare on my ’08 Tahoe yet, but I was looking at the
rear bumper today and wondering how to remove the small piece that covers
the hole in the bumper to lower the spare. Is there some easy way to remove
it without scratching the bumper?

I use the corner of one of those fake credit cards that come in the mail. Just use is like a wedge and it should pop out.

I just reached my hand around the bottom and popped it out with my finger...
