Need to pressure check the coolant system, may have blown head gasket, intake gasket, or cracked head from the sounds of it.......

I would stop driving it IMMEDIEATELY....

I agree again. Pressure check it IMMEDIATELY before driving if at all possible. If there is a problem with the cooling system, it is possible you could be getting coolant into the crank case which will most definitely ruin the bearings in the engine and you will be facing a rebuild or replacement of the engine.

I would start at the intake gasket. Very common for them to go bad.

As for the ticking, if you are running 83 octane gas, try a tank of 91-93 octane and see if that helps at all...

Run a quart of trans fluid if you are low near next oil change, otherwise might drain some out and run the fluid, this can clean the lifters that can tick also....

hnt - have you checked the timing? I have had trouble with the distributor shifting (because the hold down screw is in such an awkward place it is tough to get it tight enough I guess) when it shifts too far starting is hard and may explain sluggish acceleration...

thanks for all the help and advice so me and a buddy are gonna pull the heads have them checked and replace the gaskets also. everything is leading to the heads so the truck has 240k plus miles befor any major problem so since I have had the truck for the last 5 yrs all I have done is maintained her. Now its time for some TLC so let you'll know the out come it will be a slow process a weekend job and a little money. I have been pricing the heads at 300.00 ea is there any better prices out there that you'll know of

Hello,

I have an '07 LT Tahoe with 85,000 miles. A few days ago, I noticed that the RPM gauge would go up to 3 or 4 before my truck would change into second gear while I'm driving. I remember it would always go up 2.5 RPMs before it would change gears. Not sure what it could be? Any ideas guys? There is obviously sluggish acceleration and the truck "jumps" when it's finally changes gear. :sad72:

I put a quart of engine oil about a week ago and I checked the trans oil. It has some shavings in it. I will have the trans oil changed tomorrow.

What should the fuel pressure be for a 2003 Tahoe with 5.3 flex fuel engine?
