I agree, and I am not saying just because Ford does it, but the 2dr Explorer is fairly successful for Ford as well. I think GM could consider it.

I think a lot of the dealers would disagree with you. When I had my 2D Tahoe most of the dealers on the lot wanted to buy it.. They had list of people waiting for one to be traded in. Most I talked with said they have people everyday ask if they are going to bring back the two door. The fact that GM only makes 35,000 Corvettes every year and makes money on them tells me that even if the product numbers are low for the two door it would still make money. All the parts are already in production for the 4 door is just a shorter frame less two doors.. Were not talking about a redesign

Got this from the Chevy Truck World Forum - what do you think?

2drTahoe.jpg

Until I saw that I thought a 2 door GMT 900 would be fugly. That's a great looking vehicle, practical or not.

But you cant take a minivan off road.
Someday the automakers may wise up and offer a 4wd minivan with decent ground clearance. I know a lot of people who would buy one.

They did, its called an Acadia/Outlook/Enclave. Ok, so its not true 4wd, but it's about as close as you are going to get probably.

Um...no. Those are not a Tahoe, and they are not 2-door from what I've seen. They are beefed-up mini vans, and not a truck. Replacement for the Rendezvous maybe, but not the 2-door Tahoe.

I think he was calling the Acadia a four wheel drive beefed up mini van! Cuz like you said they are definately not trucks, but they are a hell of a lot better looking than the Rendevous! :Chevy:

my mom and dad have matching, my mom has a silver acadia and my dad has a silver enclave, i agree there not trucks, but there nice for people like my parents who dont want to drive trucks anymore but still want space. but there awd, so there only good when its wet or snowy, you cant take them off road.

I don't see the need for a 2-door model. I used to own a full size Bronco (1984), and only a young person can get, to the second row seat. If the vehicle is lifted or has anything larger than a 20-inch wheel, that is going to make it more difficult. I'm sure there would be buyers, but I don't see there being enough, for GM to design and produce it. All the people that want one send you mesage to GM.

Haha. I guess I missed the quote in his post. Sorry about that gambler. And I agree about them looking much better than the Rendezvous (or the Aztek).

I disagree.. Not much to redesign. It is shorter frame with 2 less doors. GM only makes 35,000 Corvettes a year and it is a money maker. I had several dealers tell me they have people everyday asking about a two door model.. Reason I know is I had a 98 two door and everytime I would drive on the lot to look at new ones I had a salesman ask if I was going to trade it in and how he wished they would bring the two door back because of demand..Maybe GM will wake up and put one out in the next few years.

Yep, I'm sure if they thought they could make significant money on it, they'd have produced one already. Is there any competition re: 2-door SUV's? Not much, but maybe they don't wanna incur the cost to re-tool and produce something they won't sell much of, especially since they've already reduced their workforce, production plants, etc. and have enough trouble selling what they've got. I'm sure if they feel there's enough interest, they'll do a cost-benefit study and go for it. Personally, nah, it's not for me, but it's kinda neat looking.

If you ask me, GM needs to find a way to re-design the second and third row seats to fold down into the floor ala "Stow-n-Go" to really improve the space usability in the current GMT900's. I almost didn't buy my current truck because of lack of storage space and seat flexibility... They need to get this feature ASAP in my opinion -- the 4-door GMT900's are much more family oriented than a 2-door would be, and lots of people are coming out of minivans and into SUVs, so they need to prioritize the feature development accordingly.

If you have ever ridden any distance in the "Stow-n-Go" seats you might change your mind. Chrysler had to make the seat and back super thin (read hard) in order to achieve the small size to fit in the floor.

I agree that the floor needs to be flatter than it is currently tho.

Oh wow

Oh dear. If they actually do launch a model identical to what is displayed in that picture, then I will be trying to flip myself right side-up in another loan. That is hot, beautiful, and increadible in so many different ways. Strangely, I think it would look pretty damn horrid if stretched to the length of a suburban. (I dont like big tires on suburbans)

I'm a huge fan of the first one and will without a doubt buy a new one if they make it....Note to GM: DO IT!

Mmmmmm, 2-door goodness.:clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
I'll sell my first-born to pay for that if they decide to make it, lol. OK, maybe not.

i would sell my first born for this truck. id even throw in one of my balls for it too. and all this "practical" crap is kinda, well, crap. think about it. were driving one of the worst gas hogs out there. unless yall have some sort of fuel extender that i dont know about. if you want practical get a Rav4 or a CRV not a big brick shaped V8 gas guzzalin' suv. im really sorry if i came off like a butthole but thats my opinion. one of the reasons i got the yukon was to piss off green peace. lol. ok well i guess im done.

oh yeah back to the 2 door tahoe. i effin love it! i would buy one. ive always wanted one. and ill have one someday. wasnt there a company at one time that extended jeep wranglers? there should be a company that shortens tahoes. i dislike fords, kinda, but i saw a 2 door Excursion one time and it looked bada$$. But yeah GM should totally make the 2 door tahoe/yukons again. they would sell good. with this gas "problem" maybe they could put a desiel in it or a supercharged v8 with 450 hp. lol. it could be the SS.

sorry again for being a douche bag.

I would buy a new 2 door diesel tomorrow if they would make it. I still don't understand why people don't want to buy diesels. They have monster power, and go farther on a gallon of fuel.

I completely agree!! I bought a 3/4 ton DMAX solely for the Diesel engine (well & Allison tranny) but don't need this much truck. I would love to have had the option of a 1/2 ton truck or better yet a 2 or 4 door Tahoe w/ a Duramax. GM has the new 4.5L DMAX that is suppose to fit anywhere a small block V8 fits and is already scheduled for 1/2 tons, H2's and hopefully others. Americans have a negative perception of Diesels being loud, dirty, smelly engines but they are a great alternative to gas-guzzling motors. Just look at the VW TDI, it gets as good of gas mileage as a Prius at $10K less and will last at least twice as long. Nevermind the fact that they can run on BIO, have EXTREMELY good resale and have GOBS of HP & TQ just a tuner away!

:iagree:
A two door Tahoe with diesel engine would be sweet. Diesel engines are stronger, more durable and it doesn't take that much money to unleashed some serious ponies.

I had a 94 Blazer 2 door with 6.5 TD with power everything but no leather seats. Not exactly a Duramax (by a long shot). I sold it with 165K on it. The only problems I had with it was the fuel pump. Finally got that all figured out. I got a lot of compliments when driving it. A couple of times when I was on vacation I pulled up the the diesel pump and the attendant came running out screaming STOP! THAT"S DIESEL. I said I sure hope so. I Sold it to get a 99 Tahoe LT. Sold that for a 04 2500HD Duramax. I just sold that and bought my 03 Z71. I wish now I'd of kept the Blazer but back then I didn't care for the 2 doors. Now a new Tahoe 2 door with the new 4.5...that'd be nice. But it would probably be over $50K.
