My 02 Tahoe LT has over 170, and my compressor is shot. I need to get a suggestions on replacing the rear shocks.
I've been told that the best way to go is shocks with spring over them.
Because of the price of replacing the compressor sys.
I'm planning on towing a small camper.

Thanks for the help

Size and weight of camper? Why post this in the 07 section as well? Was that one a mistake and now this is correct?

Sorry that was a mistake posting it there.

The weight is around 3395lbs.

So now my ride air control is no good and the (****) idiot light bt stays on.

I've been told that replace the air ride would be in the thousand + ballpark.

My mechanic mention he has done a change over for someone else with the same problem years ago. The cost was much less and no complaints. But it was so long ago he said I should look online for a shock n spring combo.

Hoping to get some good replies.

N thanks for your reply :happy160:

I would not ever put shocks with springs around them on the rig. Harsh ride if unloaded. I would look in to a load leveling Firestone air bag kit. They work and are not too bad to install. Can adjust as needed. If they make a progressive rear spring for your rig that would work, also. I don't know if they do. They ride nice and then the working part of the spring takes over as load is added. Moog I think? I looked in Rock Auto and did not see anything. There is a Bilstein rear air ride eliminator kit though.
