Shifting out of Park

At times I find it difficult to move the gear selector lever from Park to R or D without REALLY pushing down on the brake pedal...brakes lights work, everything seems to be in order.., Does GM use a BOO switch?

A "BOO" switch? Should be a switch at the top of the brake pedal that trips as soon as the brakes are touched and stays engaged untill brakes are returned to home position.

AHHH..... gotcha
