Hey everyone,

I have a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 5.3 v8 with 116000 miles on it. I'm about to have a Black Bear Performance tune done to it. The truck is pretty much stock, 2wd, and runs synthetic oil. The transmission has had regular maintenance done with the regular fluid and filter changes. I have 3 questions?

Is it worth it to change to royal purple synthetic fluid with 116000 miles on a stock transmission?

Should I install a new transgo shift kit and vette servo on the stock tranny, with the royal purple fluid, or wait until the tranny dies, and have a new tranny rebuilt with the better upgrades installed?

I just need some advice on what the best course of action is. I don't do any towing, and was just wondering how long these transmissions tend to last, especially having a performance tune done in the next month.

Thanks for all your help . . .

The vette servo is only like 18 bucks and an easy upgrade. The shift kit is more of an undertaking...

I'm not really concerned about the cost other than wasting money to put a vette servo, shift kit, and royal purple in a transmission that has 116,000 miles on it. Or, just waiting until the current transmission goes out, and then rebuilding the transmission with better parts and better fluid . . . thanks for the imput
