P0446 - Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit

Nothing to do with an O2 sensor or Cat. You could start by checking to see if you tightened your gas cap?

the chevy dealer said it wasnt the cap. said it was a solenoid in the gas tank. could you point me in the right direction with that?

Well, if the solenoid needs replacing I'd start with that.

No, probably the solenoid that controls the gas tank evaporative system. A lot of vehicles have this emissions device that sucks gas tank fumes back into the engine to be burned instead of releasing them into the environment.

would you happen to know the name that solenoid or part. he said it was a noid on the evap system on top of the tank

I've always heard it called the Evap Solenoid or the Purge Control Solenoid.

i tried looking on rockauto and i cant really find what your talking about.

I went to Rock Auto and clicked on the 02 Tahoe and it's under "Emissions" since it's an emissions device as I indicated. From there, there's "Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid".

i figured it was that one, i wasnt exactly sure. is that on top of the gas tank do you know? b.c the dealer said they were going to have to drop the tank and what not
