The dash switch is known to go bad on our trucks, my '00 Tahoe switch went bad, replaced it, and no more service light.

Big thread on this forum on it. One fellow recommended just resoldering the contacts on the back of the switch to fix it, that's what he did and it worked.

Swich costs about $60.00 from Dealer, but you can get it for less from GM Parts Direct and other on line sources.

Not sure if you can do a search on this board for the thread.

If you don't find it, respond back and I'll see if I can help you.

The switch removes rather easily from the dash. As I recall, there's a bezel around the switch that you can "pull" off (gently), then the switch pulls out.

Disconnect from the harness, and make sure the contacts are clean.

Look at the circuit board in the back to see if the soldered connectors look good and show no cracks.

May want to clean up the connectors with some light abrasive to remove any corrosion (if any exists), then reassemble. May want to use some dielectric grease on the connectors.

Just a suggestion til you get a new switch.....

Miight be a sensor

I had service 4wd show up on my dash. Took it to the dealership and they replaced a sensor that, I assume, is located in the 4wd box. It was definately somewhere under the vehicle, because they raised it up in the air to get to it. I don't know too much about repairing vehicles, so thats about the best description I can give ya. Hope it helps.
