replacing oem nav with aftermarket Pioneer AVH-P4300

I have a 2006 3LT Tahoe and I'm just curious as to what I'm going to need to keep all my functions i.e. steering wheel controls, xm, onstar, and rear entertainment system... also how much is this going to cost me. I know a little bit about aftermarket cd players but absolutly nothing about aftermarket nav. I went to my local installer and they wouldn't really tell me much about what I needed just that they could do it. Would rather save some money and get the stuff my self and give it to them to install

you need a couple of adapters and modulation units, there is one to retain the chime, beeps and blips, this one usually maintains on-star as well.
If you want factory steering wheel controls you will need a unit for that as well, I think in all you will be spending an additional 150. Crutchfield often gives you a deal on these things if you order the radio through them. Some thing else you may want to consider is a parking brake bypass for the dvd player.

thank you. I ended up changing to a pioneer Avic f900bt and I after doing some research and found out what I needed... one more question do I need the after market mic or can I hook into the stock on star mic
