Removing Side Steps-pita!!

Anyone else have trouble with the stupid star bit screws stripping off? I couldn't get any of the brackets off for now I bent them up on the drivers side and the best I could on the passenger side but the fuel lines got in the way on the passenger side. I think I am going to get bolt cutters and cut them off so they are flush with the body, anyone have any ideas or anything they did that worked?

i dont remember seeing any star drive bolts when taking off mine, is it a factory step bar?

yea factory step bar, had nuts and bolts holding the steps to the brackets, but had star bolts holding the brackets to the frame, I ended up cutting them off
