Purchased the wrong oil filter...I filled up with new oil before I realized it, so I kept the old one on. I'm used to the filter being high on the engine like on my 95 jeep, not so low as is on the 2001 Tahoe. Silly question, but if I go ahead and remove the oil filter now to put the new one on, will all my oil drain out or just what the filter holds?

If you had the 5.7l engine, I could guarantee that you'll only lose the oil in the filter, since the filter is above the sump, blocking any draining. If your engine is similar, no problem changing filter...

I have 5.3, but I finally found an article on another website that says almost all vehicles are designed to where the filter is above the sump. Thanks for the help. Will do tonight. And if all my oil drains out...I know where to find ya!
