To each his own, if you like loud, that's cool. But others, like me, appreciate accurate sound reproduction as well as volume. Just because your stereo can get loud, doesn't mean it is good quality sound reproduction.

I agree, the two systems I heard today were on new 2008s.

Yes, it did get loud but it was not quality.

The bass was not deep and tight but just boomy and all over the place. The highs were also really lacking and did not sound cystal clear and powerful like they do in other car audio systems. I am not even talking about custom work...other "premium" factory systems sound much better.

I am not knocking the Tahoe, I think it is great but they should give a better option for people that enjoy quality sound.

As for Bose and home thater, I will not even touch that one. ;) I am a HUGE home theater person (119" screen, 1080p projector, and Paradigm Reference 7.1 system with tactile transducers. No chance I would EVER consider Bose for home theater use. No way.

I think the system rocks. Its just not loud enough. Also, its lacking bass like aftermarket subs.
Other then that I like the system

......Anyone know if there are plans to change the audio system in 2009?

Same amp "platform", but I think 09 adds Automatic Noise Cancelling to counter the low frequency growl during 4 cylinder operation.

I've said this before. GM sets the price of the system, and the vendors bid on it. When you're supplying an amp with 9 channels of amplification, sub and enclosure, and all the cabin transducers for around $300, there's not much room to work with.

GM has deemed the Tahoe not worthy of a better system such as the one that's in the Infiniti G35....and bundled into a $3000 list option.

Silly question: my window sticker says that I have the "Bose premium speaker system". Does this mean that I also have the bose amp and all the other electronic equilizers etc? or do I just have bose speakers wired to my factory head unit?

So, depending on what system I have...Can anyone recommend where I could locate a wire harness that will easily plug in and keep all functions of the vehicle; chimes, onstar, RAP, steering wheel controls, etc after changing the OEM head unit to a Pioneer AVIC Z2? I want to avoid splicing as much as possible.
Thanks for your help.

The Bose system includes 8 cabin speakers, amp, and sub. The head unit is made by another GM vendor(s).
