I just got a new 09 Tahoe LTZ and I am going to wire my Valentine 1 radar detector into the front courtesy lights. I did this on my CTS and it worked great in that ten minutes after I shut the door it shut off power to the radar detector. I found wiring examples for the CTS but nothing for the Tahoe. I went to the dealer and got print outs of the Courtesy Lamp Control and the Inadvertent Lamp Control diagrams. Based upon looking at the diagrams it looks like the Body Control Module is the primary switch that makes current available to the Courtesy lamps. The Inadvertent lamp control diagram shows wire color OG as power and (as I would expect) black as the ground. I am trying to find out if OG is Orange with green strip or some other color. And if I am correct in my thoughts.

Thanks in advance for you help!

There is a vendor out there that manufactures a chord with pin connectors that will plug into the rear view mirror elec connector. This option also cuts power to the radar detector when the ignition switch is off. I can't remember the name but you could either do an Internet search or place a post over a corvette forum and somebody will reply.

Good luck.

I found that. It's called Invisicord. But their website only shows compatibility with the 07 Tahoe. I was concerned that it wouldn't be supported. Thanks for the response.

I too was thinking about getting one to use on the long highway trips. I have no clue about what to buy.

On my old 2001, couldn't easily find fully switched line. Pulled off one of the radio hot wires on the drivers side end of dash fuse box. Checked with a multi-meter first. Used the Valentine supplied tap, fuse and wire up to mirror area. Cuts power to Valentine when radio goes off. Seems to be fine. Should have done it years ago.

I just realized that I didn't provide an update on this thread. I ordered the cable from Invisicord. It was cheap and was delivered promptly. I took a volt/ohm meter and first disconnected the battery. I found a wire in the mirror plug that was ground. I then reconnected the batter and found a wire that was hot only when the ignition was turned on. I trimmed down the metal tabs that were soldered to the wires and inserted them into the back side of the plug. It works like a champ! I will do this same procedure to any new vehicle I purchase in the future.
