I've been riding around with my tahoe for nearly 3 years now. It's a 2001 Lt 2wd. My dad bought it new in 01 so i've seen how time has treated it and how it's held up. More recently though i feel my hoe is starting to show its age. I've had a squeak on my front left wheel for a long time now thats pissing my off, my ride quality has been taking a steady turn downhill (Still running original suspension equipment, shocks, etc), theres more pronounced rattles that i never noticed before such as behind the door panels, glove box, the rear bench...Anyway, this is my first car and i don't really want it to be past it's prime so soon in its life of 103,000 miles.

How have any of you dealt with this in any of your cars? Can you point me in the right direction as far as maybe beefing up the suspension, tranny, and just otherwise giving it some TLC which i'm sure it could use.

Heck, you have plenty of miles left on it. I have a 2000 Yukon with 92K on it. You have to just keep up with it. Like any Hoe, the better you treat her the more she will give back in pleasure.

Well i do baby it, but theres still a lot that i feel is making the tahoe seem way older than it really is. Any suggestions i can do to sort of refresh it?

Going off of what you said, bring it to the dealer and tell them to check the suspension and all and get them to fix the rattles and squeaks. All of that comes with an aging GM vehicle, you can't aviod it, just have them fixed as they pop up.

It doesn't take much to make it like new again, it just takes some money. A good claying, polish, and waxing never hurts an old truck either.

your running into a normal slump...I do it, all I do is add another 'new' thing to the truck and I'm ready to go again.
get it cleaned up, new shocks and bushings, just the ride and SOUND of a good ride will motivate you to step 2. :)

Like everyone else said, you have plenty of miles left on it. I have an '02 I bought brand new and I now have 144k on it and I just do normal maintenance, I have been lucky that I haven't had to do anything major, yet. I also had a '96 two door sport, and the same thing with that one, I just did normal maintenance, and at about 150k I had to get a new tranny, but lasted me to almost 300k miles, the guy who has it now has over 400k!

Just to point this out, ANY VEHICLE with 100k or more miles has squeaks and rattles, rode in a buddys honda civic (2001) with 104k miles, it sounded like it was gunna shake its self apart, but it still ran good (strong engine)

what you need to fix is mostly cosmetic (except for shocks) but your really supposed to change your shocks out at 50k miles. I do on every vehicle I own. MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!

I'm going to take it in for the squeaking tomorrow...to check the brakes, suspension, etc....

As for shocks, what do you recommend? I've heard great things about edelbrock performers but i dont want to break the bank....i'm a college student after all. I had my eye on these
