I have a 1999 Tahoe with an electronic transfer case. This vehicle recently spent some time with water in the interior. (I HATE floods) and now the transfer case is acting unusual.

First symptom, when started, the transfer case will randomly enter 4-hi or 4-low, and the on-dash controls are non functional.

Second symptom, when not operating correctly, the service 4wd idiot light is on.

If I disconnect the battery when the t-case is in 4-low, I have about a 50-50 chance that the transfer case will switch to either 4-hi or 2-hi after the battery is reconnected.(sometimes it stays in 4-low)

After a good bit of research, it is My understanding that the transfer case is controlled by an electric motor that I may be able to access.

I have disconnected and cleaned all electrical connectors to the transfer case and transmission.

I suspect that the control motor was inundated with water and possibly silt.

So, How do I locate this motor (diagrams or pictures, anyone?) and what tools will I need to remove it?
