I was in the same situation and have seen documentation that says these two cannot be combined (along with my dealer telling me the same thing). I ended up using the GM points (I have the old card...so had $3.5k)...since was > the Friends and Family discount.

From what I have read...the FF discount isn't a lot of times any better (sometimes worse) than you can negotiate yourself (especially at end of year, etc when they are trying to offload inventory). So seems to me the way to go is the use your GM points.

Good Luck,

Rob

i had a feeling that it was one or the other. i have about 9k worth of points and that will far outweigh the FF discount. thanks for the help.

You can't combine the GM Card points with any kind of supplier discount. The GM "Friends and Family" discount is a supplier plan isn't it? I tried this last year when I bought mine, and saw the terms as printed in the supplier discount program. But I was disapppointed to see that the S plan pricing was only $300 less than the invoice. So I was given a choice, S plan with no GM Card points, or invoice price with the GM Card points. The fact that I had over $3000 in GM Card points made the decision a no brainer.

Same issue with me also. I had supplier discount and the original GM card points. I could not combine the two deals. I had to just use the GM points. The supplier discount wouldn't have given me but a little more off, from the Dealers offer anyway. Just work a good deal and then use your GM points from you credit card. Good Luck!
