just picked up a well used 01 tahoe. it pulls to the left. the alignment shop says it is all in specs. can the torsion bars be tighten up to make the truck pull one way or the other?

The torsion bars will have very little, if any effect on the pull. You'll change the ride height on the corresponding side of whichever torsion bar you adjust. Are the tires inflated properly, or at least the two front tires within a couple psi of each other? If the right side has alot more air than the left, that will cause it to pull to the left.

tires inflated yes

yes the tires all have 35 psi. the alignment shop said to rotate the tires also to see if the pulling was caused by a tire. i did and no difference. i had someone follow me and the truck does not dog track or show signs of a collision. i am going to turn the right side bar bolt 2 full turns in. should i make sure the ride height is the same for side to side? 36 inches from fender lip to my drive way?

Since you ruled out the tires and the alignment shop says it is all good, then it maybe possible the vehicle was involved in a collision and repaired in a earlier life. Adjusting the torsion bars is an easy task, so you could see if that works or not. Just keep in mind there's a lot of tension on the bars. If you are going to tighten the bolts, it will be alot easier if you relieve some of the tension by jacking up the front of the truck. Don't forget to check the ride height after each adjustment. Good luck.

before you crank up on the torsion bar bolts crc them and back them out 2 turns then go up with them. if not you can snap the bolt right off.
