Over the last few days I have noticed that the rear liftgate is not extending all the way, and I have to push it up. Sometimes it falls back down, and I have to duck out of the way or stop it from hitting me if I dont have something in my hands.

It just started getting cold here, with daytime highs around 40F. Is this a problem due to the cold weather or something else I should be concerned about?

I have an 07 Yukon XL, and mine is doing the exact same thing. Our temps started dropping a few weeks ago, which is when I noticed it. This past weekend, we were up to 60+, and it was fine. I'm waiting for a cold day to drop into the dealer. I only have 18K on it..... way too early for those things to go.

Assuming that you both have non-power lift gates, the problem is the gas springs that assist/hold it up. The pressure decreases w/ temperature. Might try getting a warranty replacement.

I took the Yukon in two weeks ago and they replaced the lift gate struts. The Saturday morning before Thanksgiving (3 days after having them replaced) we saw 18 degrees in Atlanta. I go to open the tailgate to pack the rear end for our roadtrip to FL, and sure enough, the new ones don't lift it any better.

Nahhh. Thats not gonna do it. We got together with our friends with their Tahoe on Saturday and their's does the same darn thing as mine. You have to push it up.

Yeah I have a non powered one and I noticed the liftgate needed some help up. I was switching out my tails and lifted the liftgate and pulling it up and letting it go it usually goes up by itself. Well mine just set there, didn't go back down, and I had to push it up. I think it was about 30 degrees.

I guess its just one minor flaw with have a hoe.
