This is my first post and I searched whether this topic has been discussed but apparently not.

I have an 07 White Tahoe and beginning in the fall of 07 I noticed all these small rust spots located on both sides and on the rear of my Tahoe. I called the dealer and was told that the paint isn't defective and it is due to atmospheric fallout.

Sounds like a crock of ***** to me. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks.

I've also heard about rail dust or other things getting embedded in the paint and those things are rusting. If you haven't already, clay bar the truck then polish and wax. The clay bar should remove any surface contaminants.

Thanks. I did a Google search on clay bar and the pics shown of contaminated surfaces seems identical.

Would you recommend one company's product over another? I can't wait to try it.

I've used Mothers and Meguairs clay bars and I don't really like one bar any better than another, but I like the claying kit that Meguairs makes. It's easy to use and pretty straight forward. They're only like $20 at Pepboys or Autozone.

The bubbling may be somthing GMs fault but EVERYBODY has contamination issues during delivery transportation. (except the few high dollar vehicles shipped in closed trailers)

Correct. A paint problem is different than contamination that gets embedded in the paint...of every vehicle.

I clay every vehicle we own, and the latest example being mom's new '08 Malibu when it was only a few weeks from the factory. Looked perfect, felt mostly perfect, etc. But washed and gave it a clay with a new bar...contaminants galore, turned the side of the blue clay bar brown and speckled, and the most noticeably affected surfaces were like fresh glass after.

Another thing noticed is that, of any color, with white you will SEE this contamination, among every other thing, like no other color. Thinking back to our white Suburban, it used to often get pin tip orange specks from either trees or bugs in the driveway and the only thing that could get them off without a polish was a click clay in the washing.

Long story short? Get a clay bar. The favorite of a lot of detailers and that can even be found in Autozone and a few other stores is the "original" clay magic:
