Bout half the time i try to get it out of park i have to sit there for a couple minutes playin around with it to come out. Its like its blocked by something or whatever, i think ive heard other people with the same problem. So what is the problem here?

shift lock solonoid on the steering column, maybe?

does it do it only when ur parked on a hill?or unlevel ground?

I've got the same issue on my '99 Yuke. Flat ground, hill, anything. If I turn the key to the unlock position, I can shift out of park to neutral. Then I start the truck and everything is fine. Do you have brake lights when it doesn't work? Have someone look for you next time you have a problem. I'm thinking bad brake switch.

Hey guys,

I seem to have the same problem, I talked with a few friends that wrench a lot. They said a few different things.

1.) The paul in the transmission.
2.) The master cylinder
3.) Break switch

Before i start just replacing those pieces. Has any one fixed the issue with their Yuk?

BTW, The brake lights come on.

my problems the brake switch, the brake lights do come on unless the switch is way out of wack. It got kinda bad and im lazy so i dont feel like spending the 15 bucks and trying to replace the old one so i just shut her off in nuetral and put the emergency brake on, works for now.
