yeah Im not dissin it. I think it was a 300$ didnt-do-much-more-than-stock kind of issue.

I wanted one reallly bad, but everyone told me they arent worth the money, that the 300 would be better spent elsewhere. I think I went with headers instead if I remember right..

haha... I really don't know if there is any gain... in fact, I don't even know why I got it.. I got suckered by the claims of extra HP I guess. My stock MAF was working fine.
Anyway, the Granitelli MAF is working fine too (dunno about gains)... but I do know that on smaller cars and engines, a free'er flowing MAF does help w/ engine response.

Regardless.. I shoot the Grany MAF w/ brake cleaner too! heh heh heh...

Jennabear... I'm just curious... I know you don't like the Grany maf.. but what exactly don't you like about it? Is it hurting performance? It only hurt my wallet yrs ago... but I'm over it now.

An aftermarket MAF with the stock MAF calibration ends up tricking the computer into thinking that less airflow is entering the engine than it actually is. This results in increased ignition timing and fuel trims that go through the roof. On a stock tune, that increased ignition timing can be beneficial but on a tuned PCM it will likely end up causing ping.

We have seen aftermarket MAFs cause vehicles to run dangerously lean at full throttle. The stock MAF is more than capable of handling over 500HP as it is.

Jennabear.. when I get all my "bugs" worked out... I look forward to getting the Black bear tune.. and will put the stock MAF back on as well. For now the Grany MAF can stay.

I think I got it because I was curious to see the effects of the grany maf... plus it was easier to install than headers... heh heh... seriously.

No worries buddy, I don't think it is a "bad" mod but unfortunately doesn't give the gains it claims to. What headers did you grab up?

oh... I'm still on stock headers. All I meant was back when I got the MAF... I was contemplating headers too... but the MAf is easier to install, so my lazy @ss too that route.

I'm acutally quite amazes at the smog performance of the truck. It passes every smog check w/ flying colors. All the actual readings are at the far below what's allowed. This is w/ stock header/exhuast/K&N intake/MSD ignition/Grany MAF, and 160k miles~ =)
Oh I do have a tiny hole in the muffler can.. but that obviously doesn't matter.... especially in So Cali weather.

P0420 This is my first time Doing this Process

I have question concerning the p0420 Code. I am aware of what it is trying to say to me about the CAT Converter, and the o2 Sens.
My question, is since I have not personally had to check and change this out myself. What are the steps i should take to asset the issue and what are some of the best types to use as far as if I need to replace one of them or both.
I was also wandering if it matter what kinda CAT Convert I use.
I live in Dallas, I own a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, 2WB Four Door,. I have recently replaced the Fuel Pump and Coil on it within the last month.
If you can give me a few tips or step by step guid, I would appricate it VERY Much thanks !!

(NOTE: I have done some research on the CAT Convert types and o2 Senser,
I personally dont know what CAT i can and can not use if there is a way to change out the old CAT to a upgrade Version, same as with the 02 Sense.)

I am having similar problems - -

My 1999 Tahoe with 5.7 L was running rough, and throwing multiple codes - took to a shop and had a pro diagnosis run - found out that cap, rotor, plugs & wires were bad, so replaced them all (planned on this repair anyway) - all electronic components were tested and checked OK - they also recommended an injector clean - went & bought BG Injector cleaner and added it & used as per instructions - and initially threw P0101 (MAF sensor) and P0430. Cleaned the MAF sensor, and now runs great - but still shows P0430 - I am considering replacing O2 sensors - however my question is - can the use of the injector cleaner cause this code until all of the injector cleaner is run thru the system?
