Overhead Dome Lights

I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe. The overhead lights are not turning off. However, when I press the 'Dome Override' button, the overhead lights turn off after awhile. The overhead lights should be going off after awhile even if I did not press the 'Dome Override' button. What is causing this problem? Is there a timer for the overhead lights? If so, could it be faulty? How would I fix this?

Would appreciate any help I can get.
