Looks like brake fluid leaking underneath. light green, light oil comming from rectangular box mounted next to gas tank with flexable lines going to what looks like brake lines. Fluid isnt real low yet and the brakes still seem firm. Its getting all over the rear window and door. Is it safe to drive on to next town?

Sounds like its the brake pressure modulator valve. Thats a major component of the ABS system. either one of the brake lines came loose or the BPMV blew dont recommend to much driving if you have to just make sure and maintain fluid level up till your able to get to a shop

It's the Transfer Case

Not making any noise, just started leaking a lot. 1400 miles from home for a few weeks. I just have to keep it full til I get home right?

You rock because you responded. Could you be more specific about it being a safety issue? I wont be needing 4wheel drive on this trip.

I think I may have missed something here is it leaking from the 4wd transfercase or the BPMV the fluid in the transfercase is more like a blueish color and on your first post you mentioned like a light greenish color with what looked like brake lines so now I'm confused... well more than the normal that usually am anyway lol

titles.......

The title of my last post before you responded was "It's the transfer case". I hope thats not to confusing. I plan on keeping it full till I get back to Montana. I'm hoping thats all I need to be concerned with till then. If there is a safety issue, or anything else important I need to Know about a leaky transfer case until I get home, i'd appreciate the help. I won't be using 4WD, but I know nothing about the transfer case.

Well excuuuuse me... I was still gloating on the title before this last title... title... and got a little carried away and lost focus.. okaay !! So anyway do you have have a "AWD" All Wheel Drive or a "4WD" 4 Wheel Drive? AWD have a 3 button shift control switch and the 4WD have a 4 button shift control switch.. from what you telling me the color of the fluid is I'm guessing it's a 4WD im also hoping that too... for the most part in 2Lo is just using a input and output splined geared shaft that delivers the torque to the rear tires and not using the gears and or clutch engagement however you still want to be safe and keep it up to level as much as possible... on the AWD you are using more gears chains and sprockets to deliver torque to the front wheels as well as the rear at all times you really need to keep the fluid up on this one... trans fluid is ok on AWD but not 4WD you need the specified fluid for that one Auto Track 2 Fluid. . Not cheap. . So is it leaking from the upper rear half of TC ? See this a lot the oil pump wear clip is broken or out of position and it causes the pump to wear what starts as a pin hole and if thats what it is and the wear is excessive chances are the TC may be damaged.. if thats what it is hopefully its from the split case sealer if you here excessively load clanking clunking banging pull over asap dont want that propeller shaft coming loose but for the most part dont really see much of a safety concern but then again I'm not GOD either.. guess you can say thats my disclaimer.. good luck young man

Still traveling

We are on the way home, stopping to visit old friends for a couple days. When we got to SoCal I filled the TC. It took almost a quart($20). I couldn't find any more TC fluid , and the one I found was the only quart they had. We are in Reno and I'm anxious to re-fill. I know I can't let it run dry, because the Drive Train runs thru it. Hope this town has it. Keeping fingers crossed till we get home.

64 & there's so much more. I probably hvn't put much for personal info, or made a mistake in my info.
Arived home last night. After 3K miles and 5 qt. TC oil I'm still happy with this rig.
I'm going to get it to my friend, a local repair mechanic, and I'll post the results in case it might benifit someone.

Yes, I think it is comming from the upper half. There is a pin hole. Is there supposed to be? My friend put it up and looked, we couldn't find any obvious clues. He put a new rear Yoke seal, had me get in, raised it, I started it and put it in gear and reved it for a while and it didn't leak. When I got on the freeway though, it leaked again.
I'm going to wash it underneath at car wash and see if I can pinpoint it. Doesn't make any noise at all.

Solving mystries without any clues.....always fun.
